Welcome back to Room Blog! Today, we are diving into the world of smart, stylish urban apartment renovations. Often, the biggest challenge in a compact space is creating functionality without sacrificing personality. But the latest project by Estudio PB proves that with the right approach, a limited footprint can feel incredibly grand.
Let’s break down how this architecture team brilliantly juxtaposes bold industrial elements with the softness of Scandinavian design to create an unforgettable home.

A Dialogue of Textures: Exposed Concrete and Herringbone Floors
Just because you live in a modern apartment doesn’t mean you have to hide its bones. This project boldly highlights raw, exposed concrete beams as a major architectural feature throughout the living and kitchen areas (as seen in 1.jpg). These beams bring a sense of honesty, structure, and urban grit to the space.
Instead of letting the raw concrete feel cold or sterile, Estudio PB balances it with rich, warm wood flooring in a classic herringbone pattern.
The contrast between the masculine, grey concrete and the organic warmth of the wood creates a beautiful design tension, making the space feel instantly inviting.

The Navy Blue Kitchen: A Bold, Functional Anchor
The kitchen is the heart of the home, and here, it is treated as a spectacular color block that anchors the entire living area.
The deep navy blue cabinetry creates an instant focal point. To keep the space from feeling dark, it’s paired with a glossy white mosaic tile backsplash that beautifully bounces light around the room.
Notice how the metallic exhaust pipe is left exposed , reinforcing the industrial aesthetic. Meanwhile, warm LED strip lighting under the open shelving adds a touch of understated luxury. These open shelves double as a curation spot for personality, whether displaying sleek kitchenware or decorative elements .

The Micro-Details: Craftsmanship that Matters
The sign of truly great design is often found in the details you don’t immediately notice. Look closely at how Estudio PB handles the floor transition between the wooden herringbone and the grey terrazzo tiles in the kitchen corridor . The seam is razor-thin, precise, and perfectly executed.
A mid-century accent chair with a woven paper cord seat injects a bit of retro warmth, while a glass coffee table keeps the sightlines clear. Above the kitchen, matte black track lighting mirrors the dark ceiling, tying the whole industrial-chic vibe together.
